Early Childhood Education Day Proclamation
Sequatchie County
Dunlap, Tennessee
April 24, 2009

Whereas, fostering quality early childhood education is a priority of Sequatchie County, and we must continue to increase opportunities for early childhood education, which not only enriches the young minds of tomorrow's leaders but cultivates their growth and development - intellectually, physically and emotionally; and
Whereas, early childhood educators including; Griffith Elementary School, Sequatchie Valley Head Start, and area daycare providers are working together to improve early learning opportunities, which are crucial to the growth and development of young children, and to building better futures of everyone in Sequatchie County.
Whereas, early childhood education initiatives help young children's development and have a positive influence on their overall learning and academic performance, and programs that encourage early literacy are among the most valuable as they set the groundwork for a child's ability to succeed in school and in life.
I, Michael Hudson, County Executive of Sequatchie County, do hereby proclaim April 24, 2009 to be Early Childhood Education Day in Sequatchie County and encourage all citizens to work together to promote the growth and develop of our children.
