The gym at Griffith Elementary School was a sea of red, white, and blue as the faculty and staff honored local veterans on Friday. Students from the fourth grade under the direction of Ms. Sarah, sang several patriotic favorites. Each veteran was honored with a certificate of appreciation for their service to our country. In turn, the local VFW presented flags to teachers whose classroom were in need of a new flag. After the program, the veterans were treated to a reception while students from the school toured the Tennessee Vietnam Veterans Memorial War that was on display in the multipurpose room. It was especially moving for Mr. Bobby Rankin whose brother, Gary Perkins was one of the fallen soldiers honored on the wall.
